Holly Hunter, an American film and actress, is well-known for her stellar roles in movies such as Broadcast News The Firm The Piano The Incredibles. Holly Hunter has won numerous awards which included the Oscar for her film Piano. Her career began as an actor on Broadway as well as Off Broadway. It has always been her passion. When she was in fifth grade, she played Helen Keller in an original play. She was born deaf in the one ear due to Mumps, but she didn't allow this handicap to hinder her desire to be an actor. As a young woman she took classes in drama at the college level and then moved from Pittsburgh to New York City from Pittsburgh to pursue her ambitions. Hunter was able to make her Broadway debut following a chance conversation and Beth Henley, a playwright. The two worked together on Broadway Crimes of the Heart. After that, she moved from New York to Los Angeles and tried to find movie roles. In Swing Shift, she landed an appearance as a supporting character. Her work spans over 30 years, and she's been featured in many TV movies, films and series. Holly Hunter received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and has also won the Women in Film Lucy Award.
